September wrap-up and October TBR

Helloooo everyone!

Another month passed by, and I’m sooo excited because October is one of my favourite months 🙂 I love the colors and the cold – which is not too cold, but the one when you can cozy up in your favourite pants and sweaters, wearing at home your favourite longewear and sipping hot chocolate or tea while reading. God, this is one of the best time of the year!

In the month of September I finished 9 books, which isn’t bad. I set my Goodreads reading challenge to 75 books, because I think if I’m trying hard I can do that – currently I’m 10 books behing though, soooo. we’ll see.

  • When Dimple met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
  • Afar by Leila del Duca

And DNF’d the following book:

24 hour READATHON – TBR and plans

Hellooooo everyone,

So my first ever 24 hour Readathon happens on this weekend, and I’m beyond excited about it! I’m so nervous and curious, I really hope that I can manage to read 1000 pages during this one day long reading marathon!

My original plan was to start new books during this challenge, just because it is easier to count how many pages I’ve read when I don’t have to substract the pages I’ve read before starting the marathon.

This plan is slightly changed after I realised that in the last couple of months I have started to read a shitload of books without finishing them! My currently reading list is 8 books long at it is unacceptable! I finished a lot of books during this period but there are these books which I do enjoy and read a couple of pages from them here and there, but there are ALWAYS the shiny new books which I have to jump in and read on the same day I got them.
So, my new plan for this readathon is to remove some of these books from my Currently Reading pile. This is also good for my Goodreads challenge, which is 75 finished books this year and I’m currently 12 books behind, and finishing these babies would improve this numbers.

So now let’s take a look on these books!

  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
    Started on: June 13, 2017
    On page: 243
    Total pages: 617
    Pages to read: 374
  • A Court of Wings and Ruin
    Started on: July 2, 2017
    On page: 276
    Total pages: 699
    Pages to read: 423
  • The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue
    Started on: August 7, 2017
    On page: 246
    Total pages: 501
    Pages to read: 255
  • Winter
    Started on: August 13, 2017
    On page: 140
    Total pages: 824
    Pages to read: 684
  • Insurgent
    Started on: August 15, 2017
    On page: 310
    Total pages: 525
    Pages to read: 215
  • Sleepy Hollow and other short stories
    Started on: September 3, 2017
    On page: 56
    Total pages: 121
    Pages to read: 65
  • Wicked like a Wildfire
    Started on: September 19, 2017
    On page: 70
    Total pages: 400
    Pages to read: 330
  • Gemina
    Started on: September 22, 2017
    On page: 84
    Total pages: 659
    Pages to read: 575

If we are doing the math, this is exactly 2891 pages to read, which is, to be honest, impossible for me to read. I decided, that Gemina and Wicked like a Wildfire aren’t “playing”, because I started them quite recently. This leaves me with 1986 pages. My goal is to finish 1000 pages from this, and I hope that I’m going to finish some of these books as well. I’m hoping to finish Insurgent, Sleepy Hollow and The Gentlemen’s Guide to Vice and Virtue the most, so I might start the marathon with those, and I’ll see how it goes. I’m going to start reading tonight at 6pm Central European time, right after I finished working. The marathon ends tomorrow at 6pm, and I hope I can catch up with you right after that.

Wish me luck!

August Wrap-Up and September TBR

Helloo everyone!

August was the month of completely changed TBR, participating in #TheReadingQuest, and starting a lot of new series! I loved this month, I enjoyed my readings so much and I found a new all time favourite book! Also, I first ever tried to listen to a book in audiobook format, and really loved the experience, definitely going to listen to audiobooks in the future!

My original August TBR list looked something like this:

  • The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee
  • Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody
  • Winter by Marissa Meyer
  • Cress by Marissa Meyer
  • A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

This list was changed to something like this when I decided to participate in #TheReadingQuest:

  • Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody
  • Winter by Marissa Meyer
  • Cress by Marissa Meyer
  • Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth
  • The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
  • A gathering of shadows by V.E. Schwab

Before the challenge started I had to finish Cress, and I finished Daughter of the Burning City as well, which is a new favourite book of mine! You can find my review of this book by clicking here

Then the challenge started and I had to revise a book in it, I changed the Raven Boys to the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, because the Raven Boys didn’t arrived in time.

So I finished the following books in the month of August:

  • Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody
  • Cress by Marissa Meyer
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth
  • Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
  • The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
  • One of us is Lying by Karen M. McManus
  • Stalking Jack the Ripper

As of my TBR for September
Finish the following books:

  • Winter by Marissa Meyer
  • The Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett
  • Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Start Reading the following books:

  • The Lightning-Struck Heart by T.J. Klune
  • The Hearts we Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones
  • Sleepy Hallow and other short stories by Washington Irving
  • Soul Music by Terry Pratchett
  • The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

This TBR is probably going to change as well because of the challenges I’m doing and the 24 hour readathon.

Cheers, Szandi
